Within the Greek village of Vrontados, every year throughout Greek Orthodox Easter celebrations, members of two rival church buildings maintain a standard “rocket conflict” by firing hundreds of do-it-yourself fireworks in direction of one another whereas companies are held. The aim for either side is to hit the bell within the tower of the opposing church. The pageant, referred to as Rouketopolemos, has been celebrated by the church buildings of Agios Markos and Panagia Erithiani for not less than 135 years. Gathered listed here are photographs of this 12 months’s battle, together with others from latest years.
